More boring 😜 scenery from the south shore. This is next to a boat launch ramp near the resorts of Poipu.

Taking in the ocean after lunch today

Kealia Beach looking cloudy.

I’m a lucky guy!

Lizard porn

While a couple of cute geckos were nibbling on maraschino cherries at the table next to us, a pair of green gecko's appeared near our table. At first, I was pretty excited to see them up close, until they started getting hot and heavy with each other. They eventually got a room together and I think Larry may have officiated their wedding.

Gift from Larry

We went to the Garden Island Grill in Koloa last night for dinner and to watch the famous Larry Rivera. Near the start of the show, Larry pulled out a beautiful lei that his son gave him earlier in the day and gave it to Maureen. The smell from it was wonderful. We even went into a shop in Poipu later that evening and the clerk in there could smell it from across the store.

Heading down to Koloa

Had to take an obligatory photo of the famous tree tunnel heading down to the southern shores.

Larry Rivera at Paradise Garden Grille in Koloa

Larry Rivera is a legend in Kauai and has won 7 lifetime achievement awards. He's written over 100 songs and performed at the Coco Palms in its hay day. He was friendly the moment we walked into the bar area and quickly shared that he turned 87 on September 14th. We really enjoyed his show and his stories, hearing about his friendship with Elvis, his writing of songs starting at 14 years old, and seeing his beautiful spirit light up the stage.

Spouting horn and honu

In the first picture there is a turtle's head sticking up out of the water. We spent about 20 minutes watching the water and saw about 3 turtles (honu).

Kilauea night market

Across the street (on the Mauka side) from Kilauea town, is a monthly night market. There's food vendors, art & jewelry vendors and live music. It really was a nice time and the vendors were very friendly.
Good prices for jewelry. We waited too long to get something to eat so we decide to eat at home.

Hanalei

It started raining and those waterfalls were flowing. There's three viewable from this picture but since it was raining, it was hard to capture a good photo.

Back to Hanalei

We went back to Hanalei for lunch yesterday (one of our favorite areas). We ate at Frederico's Mexican Grille and had a grilled fish taco (Mark had a fish burrito). We were pleasantly surprised with the authenticity of the flavors.
